The faculty has been carefully selected for their professional knowledge of a particular dance discipline as well as the ability to teach a particular age or ability level.  The studio only employs instructors with professional experience and/or dance degrees. 


THE PRIMARY CONCERN of the faculty is the development of each student's skill and appreciation for the art of dance, respect for their teachers and fellow students, and the development of their own personal self-esteem.


  • Kim Tuttle - (Intermediate through Advanced Ballet)  See "Directors" 


  • Carla Amancio -  (Adult Ballet and Conditioning) Born in Brazil, Ms. Amâncio trained at the Grupo Corpo Ballet School until joining Ballet Cristina Helena where she was featured soloist.  Ms. Amâncio was then invited to join Sesiminas Dance Company where she performed as First Soloist until beginning a freelance career as guest artist.  She stands out in roles in “Esmeralda”, “The Corsaire”, “La Bayadere”, “Coppelia”, “Don Quixote”, and “Diana and Acteon” which she performed in Havana, Cuba at the Closing Gala in 1997. Ms. Amâncio was awarded 1st Place at the III Junior Capezio Festival, Brazil; 1st and 2nd places at the CBDD Unidanca Competition, Brazil; and Finalist at the Concours Internacional de Danse de Paris, France. Ms. Amancio joined Dance Alive National Ballet in 2008, and quickly rose to the position of Principal Dancer with her beauty, brilliant technique and charismatic stage presence. She is on the faculty of Pofahl Studios, Official School of Dance Alive.

  • Ani Collier - (Advanced Ballet) Ms. Collier is a dancer, choreographer, director and visual artist. She was trained at the State Ballet School in Bulgaria, immigrating to the US following the fall of the Berlin Wall.  She has toured in Russia, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Costa Rica and the US with several companies - including DANB.  She has supported international workshops both in the US and Bulgaria.  Ms. Collier will be teaching advanced ballet.

  • Jessie Dominguez, Adult Ballet:  Principal dancer DANB.  Trained at the Cuban National Ballet School earning numerous awards which include: Silver Medals in 1998 and 1999 and Bronze in 2000.  She became a principal dancer with the National Ballet of Cuba. She has toured internationally and performed on the most important stages in Latin America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, Canada and the US.

  • Julia Ponomareva - (Intermediate and Advanced Repertorie and Advanced Pointe)  Ms. Ponomareva is a graduate of Rudolf Nurev Academy in Ufa, Bashkortostan as  well as the Kazan State Music Academy, Faculty of Dance Pedagogy and  Ballet-Master Degree.  She won the Gold Medal at the first All-Russian and International Delphy Arts Games, Classic Dance Section.  She was a cast member of the National Tatarstan State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre (2003 to 2012)  and the Croatian National Ballet (2011-2012.  Ms. Ponomareva is married to  Alexsey Kuznetsov. Ms. Ponomareva was featured as ‘La Carlotta’ in Kim Tuttle’s

      Phantom and as ‘Sugar Plum Fairy’ and ‘Snow Queen’ in DANB’s  Nutcracker.  Ms. Ponomareva has danced leading roles in the            majority of the world’s most famous ballets, among them Sleeping Beauty, Swan Lake, Giselle, La Bayadere, Le Corsaire, Don                Quixote, Romeo and Juliet, Coppelia, Carmen, Napoli, La Dame aux Camelias, Jewels, and Spartacus.  Ms. Ponomareva is another

      Russian who thoroughly enjoys dancing contemporary roles.  Ms. Ponomareva will teach intermediate through advanced pointe               And repertoire.

  • Beatrix Povoas, Beginning through Intermediate Ballet:  Principal DANB. Povoas joined DANB in 2016. She participated in numerous ballet competitions (Argentina, Berlin, Brazil) and worked professionally since 2015 at Ballet Marcia Sampio/Cabo Frio-Rio, Cia Jovem de Ballet do Rio de Janeiro da Dalal Achcar and Sesiminas Dance Company since 2013.  She conducts a dance program in Brazil when not performing with DANB

  • Fhilipe Teixeira - (Adult Ballet) Trained at Cristina Helena School in Brazil, he was Principal Dancer at Sesiminas Dance Company.  Silver Medal at Joinville Ballet Competition. He is an honored judge and guest artist in Brazil and a frequent guest artist throughout the south.  Classical pas de deux include Nutcraker, Diana and Acteon, Romeo Juliet and Flames of Paris.  With DANB he has been featured in Nutcracker, Phantom, rivers of Belief, Heat, Carmina Burana and Spring Water.

  • Sarah Beth Thompson - ( Pre-Ballet, Adult and Teen Ballet) Ms. Thompson trained at Pofahl Studios and with her mother, Lara Thompson. She was a  member of the corps of DANB and toured with the Company in Lady Bug: Action Hero, Robin Hood and Nutcracker.  Ms. Thompson is an experienced teacher and will teach  Pre-Ballet and Teen Ballet.  Ms. Thompson recently graduated from UF and will be attending seminary school.

  • Andre Valladon -   (Partnering)  Mr. Valladon, Principal Dancer and Assistant Artistic Director for Dance Alive National Ballet,  studied at Studio de Danças  Cristina Helena in Brazil before joining Grupo Corpo Brazilian Dance Company.  One year later he became Principal Dancer at Minas Gerais Dance Company.  In 1995 he represented Brazil at the International Dance Competition is Osaka, Japan where he received the Lift Prize and a contract with Jeune Ballet de France.  Mr. Valladon was then invited to join first the Rio de Janeiro Municipal Theatre Ballet and then Sesiminas Dance Company as Principal Dancer.  Mr. Valladon has been awarded several Gold Medals, Revelation Prize, Character Dance Revelation Price and Grand Prix at the Joinville International Dance Festival, Brazil; Gold Medal Classic and Contemporary at the Brazilian Dance Council Competition, Brazil; Lift Prize at the International Dance Competition in Japan; Finalist at the USA International Ballet Competition in Jackson, Mississippi, and Concours de Danse de Paris, France.  Mr. Valladon has danced the lead roles in all of the great classic ballets and is a descriptive and expressive contemporary dancer. He is technically brilliant, artistically profound, and loved by all audiences.  His favorite role is the challenging role of  Robin Hood in Kim Tuttle’s full length ballet of  the same name.

                                                                                                    Roberto Vega, Boy’s Class:   Mr. Vega is a principal dancer

                                                                                                    with Dance Alive National Ballet.  He was first soloist with the Cuban                                                                                                                  National Ballet.  Mr. Vega has performed as soloist and first soloist with                                                                                                              ballet companies all over the world,  England, France, Australia, Spain,                                                                                                              Puerto Rico and the United States. Mr. Vega is married to DANB principal                                                                                                        dancer Yulia Pivotskaya.                                                              


  • Kimmy Keck - (Intermediate and Advanced Contemporary) Performed professionally with Brooks & Company, ProDanza Italiana and North Atlanta Dance Theatre.  Was selected for third year of "So You Think You Can Dance". Established a public school based dance & Pilates studio, performance company and athletic movement program and movement classes for physically & mentally disabled for Orange County Schools. B.A Education, certification in Pilates & Yoga. Ms. Keck has taught at Pofahl Studios for the last five years where her classes serve a labs for UF dance students learning to teach.  Ms. Keck will teach intermediate and advanced contemporary.

  • Rachel Ridley, Contemporary and Hip-Hop:  Principal DANB.   Trained at Pofahl Studios, the Official School of DANB, Ms. Ridley performed in DANB’S production of The Nutcracker since she was a child, and has toured with DANB from the age of 12.  She co-directs The Next Generation and is that complete dancer – able to perform and teach almost any dance form.  Ms. Ridley graduated from USF and is working on her degree in speech therapy.

Rachel Slocum, Acrobatics: Graduated from Florida in 2016 with a degree in Health Education and Behavior and currently pursuing a Masters in Sport Management. Ms. Slocum is a manager for the Gator's Gymnastics team.  Began gymnastics collegiate athletic career at Eastern Michigan University; becoming the second person in Eastern Michigan's gymnastics history to qualify to nationals as an individual. She transferred to The University of Florida for her junior and senior year of college where she became a four time All-American, a member of the Academic Honor Roll and a member of the SEC Community Service Team.

  • Courtney Holmes Adkins, Hip-Hop:  Ms. Adkins received her degree in public relations from UF and works in marketing for Exactech in Alachua.  A former Gator Dazzler, Ms. Adkins has taught Hip-Hop at all levels for Pofahl Studios since 2001 – as a faculty member, guest teacher and choreographer.  We welcome her back for our advanced Hip-Hop during the 2019-2020 dance year!

  • Marianna Mancuso, Beginning Hip-Hop:  Ms. Mancuso, a student at Santa Fe College, trained at Pofahl Studios.  She is a member of the Corps de Ballet of DANB.  Ms. Mancuso has toured with DANB since the age of 12 and assisted and demonstrated for studio classes for the last 3 years.  A well trained dancer, Ms. Mancuso is another one of those dancers who is able to perform and teach almost any dance form.
